Levitation 1

Our assignment was to research a photographer that we like and take photos like their series and try to recreate them. My photographer, Natsumi Hayashi, took pictures of herself "levitating" in mid air, and I'm using models as my levitation figures instead of jumping myself for most of my images. The trick is to jump at the correct timeto make it look like they are levitating. The concepts in my photo are that i try to tell my models to look like they are not jumping but rather levitating. This involves having the same face composure while taking the shots. The way arms and legs are bent also affect the way the photos look.

  1. Stefan, your photos are so funny and awesome! They are fun and entertaining to look at. Some of your photos you can't really tell that they are jumping unless I really look into the picture. I think that it's great that I need to really look at the picture to see if they are jumping. My favorite picture is the last picture where they are reading, it looks by natural. Your photos match up to your artist's pictures and it looks good! Keep it up!

  2. Really cool photos Stefan! Your set and topic if super fun and interesting to look at. Your photos really make it look like the model is levitating rather than jumping! The scenes you created also helped make it look realistic. Maybe for the next set you can have EVEN more unique scenes (like the last photo, that's great!) and make sure the model's feet are flat/hair isn't flying up. Great work and I'm excited to see your next draft!

  3. Nice work Stefan! I can tell you really tried to create the illusion of levitating rather than jumping. These photos are all a really good start! I agree with Sabrina just to make sure feet are flat and hair doesn't give away the jumping part. Just watch like posture and everything too, it's definitely a difficult task and you're doing really well. I like the variety of backgrounds and scenes. Good job!

  4. Stephan,
This week I believe you did an OK job. I remember you capturing so many better photos! What happened! I also think you should have edited them a bit. This is constructive criticism.

  5. All of your photos are fun to look at. I like how you could get all these photos without them being blurry. It really looks like the models in your photos are just levitating in the air. It does not look like they are jumping at all. Great job!

  8. Stefannn your photos are really good! a lot of them really seem like the models are actually levitating. You definitely achieved your goals, in my opinion. maybe next time you could time it even better, so that the model's clothing or hair won't seem like it's flying away. nice job though!!
